Epson Stylus Photo 1400 Driver Review

The Stylus Photo 1400 may cost slightly more than its predecessors, but its superior print resolution and ink droplet spray technology make it an excellent choice for scrapbookers or anyone printing large volumes of photos. It even comes equipped with an LCD touchscreen display for ease of navigation. So, the latest version of Epson Stylus Photo 1400 Driver can be downloaded from this page.

If your print job contains large smudges, missing colors, or distortions that indicate your printer head may be dirty, it could indicate it needs cleaning – so check out our guide on how to clean it!

Printing

Epson Stylus Photo 1400 A3 printer is an all-round performer, capable of both photographic and text printing on A3 paper. As a successor to their long-serving 1290 workhorse, it offers advanced technology with improved inks for maximum output.

The six-ink model employs a Micro Piezo TFP print head with 90 nozzles per color capable of dispensing 1.5pl droplets to achieve a maximum resolution of 5760x1440dpi for fine tonal gradients and seamless printing.

This machine was intended for photo printing but can also accept plain paper up to 13×44 inches, making it suitable for scrapbookers and similar enthusiasts. Paper is loaded from the top and ejected out the front into a large telescopic tray that folds away when not in use.

Though designed primarily as a photographic printer, the Stylus Photo 1400 proves itself an adept plain paper printer as well. Our five-page black text print was completed in just 2:02 with close to 15ppm speed being claimed by its manufacturer. In its default CMYK mode, it produced prints with excellent contrast and saturation while using Image Colour Management provided access to numerous profiles for common papers including glossy. Adding PhotoEnhance allows images to be automatically corrected, toned down, or toned smooth as well as providing auto skin tones smooth skin tones before finalizing rendering intents such as ICM (Windows own color management system), sRGB, or Adobe RGB are selectable within the software as well.

Copying

Epson last refreshed their 13-inch dye-based printer from their Stylus Photo line six years ago, so the 1400 is an exciting update. Offering a similar print resolution to its predecessor but with faster print times due to a new DX5 MicroPiezo print head. Furthermore, new Claria Hi-Definition inks that last up to 98 years behind glass storage as well as darker storage compared to previous generation dyes are featured – much longer than any dye from its predecessor generation.

The Epson 1400 offers support for a range of Epson paper types, including glossy, semi-gloss, and matte varieties. Furthermore, CD and DVD printing is supported as well as CD/DVD duplicating; making this ideal for scrapbookers. Unfortunately, however, this model lacks direct card reader connectivity via its USB port.

Establishment is quick and straightforward with this printer, which comes complete with a user manual, installation CD, and drivers compatible with both Windows 2000, XP, and Vista as well as Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later operating systems.

The 1400’s included driver provides various print settings, such as Image Color Management and Rendering Intents – specifically created to handle various image formats including those saved as sRGB or AdobeRGB formats. Furthermore, its color management can be disabled if using third-party papers that come equipped with their own individual ICC profiles – although in our tests the 1400 did an excellent job converting colors.

Scanner

Though traditional printers were bulky affairs covered in plastic and used dot matrix engines that produced sounds like wood carving, modern inkjet printers can produce images with enhanced color saturation on various media types. This 13-inch Epson is the successor to Stylus Photo 1290 with some enhancements over its predecessor.

One major advantage is the use of separate dye and black ink cartridges, making replacement easier when they run out – an issue with previous models which bundled all but black ink into one cartridge. Furthermore, Epson boasts that their Claria Hi-Definition inks have longer lives than previously used dyes, with ratings up to 98 years when stored behind glass or in dark storage conditions.

Print on paper sizes ranging from 4×6 to 13×19, such as scrapbooking-sized 12×12 sheets and inkjet-compatible CD/DVD media. Furthermore, this printer features label printing capability on tray holders for CDs/DVDs as well as built-in document scanning functionality.

This package comes with Photoshop Elements, Epson Print CD, and the Print Studio utility for creating CD/DVD labels. Image processing features include PhotoEnhance and ICM (Image Colour Management), which can be toggled off to let Photoshop or other color-managed programs handle color conversion.
