Epson Perfection V700 Driver Download for Windows

Epson Perfection V700 Driver Review:

Having a photo lab scan your film costs money, but you can also do it yourself. This scanner is an affordable option that can easily handle your 35mm negatives. So, the latest Epson Perfection V700 Driver can be downloaded from this page.

Its 6400-dpi resolution provides incredible clarity and detail, even for enlargements. It uses Digital ICE to automatically remove dust, scratches, and other imperfections, so there’s no need for manual retouching.

Scanner Specifications:

The Epson Perfection V700 Photo is a high-end flatbed scanner with a dual-lens design. It has a maximum scan resolution of 6400 dpi for transparent images placed in film holders and 4800 dpi for opaque or non-transparent images (with the exception of the slide).

Epson is known for its excellent image quality, as well as for its Digital ICE technology, which automatically removes surface dust and scratches during scanning. For this model, this technology is included as a standard feature.

The scanning lamp is biased towards blue to shorten scan times and enhance contrast. A moving blue LED shows the position of the scanner’s lens carriage to allow users to track scanning progress. The scanner can be connected via USB 2.0 or Firewire IEE1394. A power supply unit is also included. The CD contains the software, a digital version of the manual, and an installation guide. Unfortunately, there is no printed manual delivered. This is a real drawback for a scanner in this price range.

Scanning Modes:

The Epson Perfection V700 Photo offers a wide range of film carriers. One of them holds 12 slides, another four six-frame film strips, and two 4×5 transparencies. All carriers snap into a notch on the scan bed, preventing them from falling off during the scanning process.

For non-transparent images, the V700 scans very quickly: a preview scan and a fine scan are ready within seconds. This is thanks to the fact that a maximum of 600 dpi is used for these scans, which is quite reasonable.

In the Home Mode, one can choose the type of target, adjust the resolution and activate picture correction procedures like Digital ICE (hardware-based dust and scratch removal) or color recovery. However, a fully automatic mode also exists, where one can’t adjust anything at all and simply let the software do everything by itself. Scanning times increase accordingly: the scanner digitizes a 6×7 medium format slide at 2400 dpi with activated ICE in about 13 minutes.

Transparency Unit:

With the inclusion of a transparency unit. The Perfection V700 Photo offers all the options of a complete flatbed scanner for film and photo preservation. Users can create digital archives of prints, filmstrips, and mounted slides. And even medium format full panoramic film. This advanced flatbed scanner uses LED ReadyScan technology to allow for operation without any warm-up time, higher scan speeds, and lower power consumption.

The transparency unit comes with various film holders that accommodate four 35mm film strips with six pictures each, twelve framed 35mm slides, and two 126cm/A3-sized film strips. A long slit in the cover lights up green when a film is loaded, signaling the scanner that it’s time to scan.

The transparency unit is secured with a transport lock that needs to be unlocked before scanning. It’s also worth noting that the scanner does not include a document mat cover. So it has to be added if one intends to use the device for scanning documents.

Film Holders:

The delivery box of the Epson Perfection V700 Photo includes several film holders. Among them one for up to 12 35mm framed slides, another for four 35mm film strips with six pictures each, and also one for two medium formats (up to 6 pictures 4.5×6 and/or 2 pictures 6×7 to 6×9) film strips. All of these film holders are inserted the same way into the scanner. By simply inserting their guide pins into the respective openings on the transparency unit.

Since the scanning process only takes place once all the images have been properly inserted. This is an easy and convenient system. A drawback is however that if the images are curved then it can be very difficult to properly place them in the holder. Because of the annoying Newton rings. Nevertheless, this type of film holder can be used and it is worth considering for users who do not need a professional film scanner.
